There are those who desire them. Bright wild cherries, their
edible flesh bursting between your teeth—
cherry red lips.
These are the ones I want. And so does she.
After the light sweet touch, there is bitterness and our laughter
again and again—
we spit out the pits.
Then there are those
who only want to cradle them in their lap in an emerald green bowl—
an act of love. To keep them
for someday, maybe Friday.
