duller by the minute by. caroline schwartzbeck

sometimes i wonder whether

the snow melts faster than it used to

or if i just don’t go sledding as much as i used to.

have the politicians on the news

always been this ruthless

or is this my first time listening to them?

when my mom turns on the radio

i ask myself if the stations have always played the same mix of eighties songs

or if i only noticed because i never used to mind.

is this how it is for the millennials

the online killjoys who complain that nothing’s as good as it was?

only time will tell.

every time i see something new i ask myself

was it the world that changed

or was it me all along?
