it was our first time at the art gallery together
after talking and talking about the beautiful things,
we were experiencing them together.
you said i was the sixteenth sunflower in van gogh.
if you’re samson, then i’m delilah.
i told you the story of the execution of lady jane gray and
i have never seen you so impressed with my brain.
i would sit in the water-lily pond with you.
but we saw the painting of a cow and
it made us stop for longer than it should.
you said, simply, ‘i love cows’ and
now i want to be a cow.
look at them with their kind eyes,
living my dreams to live
on grassy banks,
innocent creatures and
most importantly,
loved by you.
